I am an Independent fully qualified DSA Approved Driving Instructor with over 36 years experience of driving both in the UK and abroad.
I am a member of the Driving Instructors Association and I have signed up to the DIA code of conduct.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a novice who has never driven before, or a driver who may be wishing to take a refresher course, perhaps not having driven for some time. I use a combination of Instruction and Coaching, and the method used is always varied to suit your individual requirements so that you get the most out of your time in the car and progress to test standard as soon as possible.
I have had success where pupils have failed a driving test with other Driving Instructors, and following a short course of driving lessons with me, they have successfully passed their driving test.
Intensive driving lessons, semi-intensive driving lessons and individual driving lessons are all catered for. Support is also given in your theory revision with either free access to Theory Test Software or if you prefer a DVD is available for purchase to assist you with your studies as well as copies of the Highway Code and Traffic Signs.
I always teach on a one to one basis in the car. I will not ask you to car share, and am always punctual and reliable. I always allow 30 minutes between lessons to ensure that I can always arrive and start the next driving lesson on time.
My principal teaching area is the area shown by the map below, hence my pupils take their driving test at Lee-on-the-Solent Test Centre as it is in the centre of my teaching area. As with all Instructors, lessons can start and finish anywhere within reason, so picking up or dropping off at Home, Work or College is no problem, as long as I know in advance before the lesson starts or finishes.
I aim to teach on average about 30 hours per week. This ensures that I am always able to give my pupils my best. Be wary of Instructors who work extended long hours as they may be tired after a long day and not at their best. However, it does sometimes mean at popular times of year that I may have a waiting list for pupils before I can fit them in for a series of driving lessons.
To pass your practical driving test, you must be able to drive for about 40 minutes, and complete one reversing manoeuvre with a total of 15 or fewer driving faults. Over 70% of my pupils have passed their practical driving test on their first attempt with me, compared with the national pass rate for the practical test of around 46%. The Recent Pupil Successes gives special mention to those of my pupils who have recently passed the practical test with six or fewer driving faults - Well done to all of you.
You can apply for your Provisional Driving Licence up to three months before your 17th Birthday but it will not come into force until you are 17 years old.
On your first driving lesson I will need to see sight of your driving licence and take some details, and I will also check your eyesight, this will then ensure that you are fully insured to drive my car.
When you are ready to book either your theory test or practical driving test, go via my Pupil Area to the direct.gov.uk website as this will make sure that you do not pay any unnecessary booking agency fees to third parties for their booking of your driving test on your behalf.
In the Pupil Area you will find a copy of the Show & Tell questions, an online copy of the Highway Code, and access to free software for your Theory revision. Registered Users of this website are also able to gain further access to the download area where they can download Pupil handouts, the Show and Tell Questions, a copy of the Know your Traffic Signs Book (please be aware that this is a large file), and a copy of the DSA Standard Operating Procedure for the conduct of driving tests (if you really want to read it).
For further details about my driving lesson prices you can either follow this link or use the menu at the top of this page.
Congratulations to all of my pupils who have passed their practical test, and in particular to the following pupils who have passed with six or less driving faults recently :-
